The fourth International Conference of ARSA was held in Bicol University, Legaspi City, Philippines on September 6-10, 2010 with the theme “The Multidimensionality of Economy, Energy and Environmental Crises and their Implications to Rural Livelihoods”. Its conference objectives were to share experiences in implementing innovative rural development programs in response to energy, economic and environmental crises in Asia; discuss the role of rural sociology in the energy, economic and environmental discourses; and; discuss climate change issues and their impacts to rural livelihoods. This conference was spearheaded by Dr. Lutgarda L. Tolentino of the University of the Philippines Los Banos. It was attended by 135 participants from 13 countries.
